Battle report Adeptus Titanicus 4

Afternoon #Warhammer Community I've been #PlayingWarhammer and yet another sort of non-battle report but still Adeptus Titanicus. But I think you can tell things have all gone a bit Red Planet BASE! 🔴 I had been reluctant to bring my Realm of Battle board to the shed for a few reasons:
  1. It's not my shed - it's not but Otty said he was happy about it.
  2. I didn't think there was room to store it - It managed to tuck behind another RoB bag, in the middle of the table
  3. I hoped I may use it at home - who am I kidding? And if I did I still have my laminated battle mats and this deserves to be used rather than sit in the bag until AoP once a year!
  4. I've been 'burnt' before leaving stuff at someone else's house - unlikely to happen now.
So, alongside the board, the new MDF terrain and Ferron Fire Firs I think we made a much more interesting board. Liam had been mighty busy and added not one but two Warlords to his legio! He'd seen a pair for sale and asked if I wanted to go halves. Then we'd both found better deals on single auctions but this one was still going and he got a sweet deal on it. It included 4 Questoris Knights and loads of plastic terrain, which he also painted super quick, but they still look awesome.

Anyway, I can't recall what the missions were but we did not use my Legio specific rules.

Liam castled up at the back - a beautiful firing position and the deployment was a shallow diagonal, which meant I had a lot of ground to cover to get to the titans.

My Cerastus got halfway up the board for the paltry price of half their numbers. I think initially it looked like all of them had gone but I think there was some technicality that kept two alive. The Reaver kept pace somewhat.

We had started to use the reactor rules correctly at this stage. Liam had pushed his reactor into the orange and suffered 3 wounds to his titan, this was the damage role - so he suffered no damage whatsoever.

The dangers of pushing your reactor suddenly hit home and I realised I'd casually put my own Reaver into the orange by running up the board to close the distance.

Unfortunately I was less lucky, as although I suffered only 1 wound the damage was severe [although I can't recall how. I think at this point our old friend Jay turned up with his two sons.

As time went on Liam and I co-opted them to roll the dice on our behalf. What followed was a classic example of all Liam's proxy rolls achieving exactly what he needed and all my proxy rolls failing. The gleeful success of one brother over the embarrassed failings of another - I've been there but it was all good fun. Despite it all I was closing in on Liam's trio and so close that if I blew I could take one, two or even all three Warlords with me!

My Lancer got in, and I'm not sure he managed to do any damage. My Reaver swung, punched the Warlord who was spun to the side, but somehow managed to use that momentum to backhand my Reaver with its own Powerfist, spinning me 90°.

To make matters worse it suffered catastrophic damage and was 'laid low'. It stumbled away towards the board edge and effectively fell out of sight with no fanfare. What could have been a glorious meltdown, taking the traitors with it, or stumbling in any other direction toward the enemy and doing damage to them was not to be!

I think at this point we called it.

We'd had a fun days gaming and we'd got better at the rules. I don't know how I'll ever take down 3 Warlords, but we're getting there and enjoying the game.

As an aside the next shed night I added some of Liam's terrain, both the quick painted plastic ones and his own modular MDF design to see how they looked.

And it just goes to show that wildly different terrain schemes can work in harmony with each other. Those grey buildings look perfectly at home on the red board and I suspect vice-versa.

As I've said before, real world architecture is not all colour coordinated. So 40k/30k doesn't have to be.

Not a battle report - Adeptus Titanicus 2 & 3

Afternoon #Warhammer Community I've been #PlayingWarhammer and yet another non-battle report but still Adeptus Titanicus. It started off well...

and then the power tripped out in Otty's shed and we were reduced to the rather atmospheric scenes we have here using a mix of candles and single extension lamps.

This pic is awesome too but for some reason I didn't take anymore. I think the only thing I remember of this game was this sneaky Warhound scampering in-between my Reaver and Liam's Warlord, stopping me getting the good stuff for some upstart welp of a titan.

Not sure if they went on to finish the game mid-week but the electrics eventually got sorted and a new plan for heating the shed was devised as Otty felt the electric heaters were putting too much strain on the supply. Although he had identified one of his kids had also run an extension lead to a tree house so they could watch telly and it had got a bit wet! 🤣

So, game 3 and we're building proper Maniples now, with Legio rules. We've also put down some more terrain so there's more LoS blocking and minuses to hit. Ben decided to choose a force devoid of Liam's beloved Warlord while I stuck with the 3 Reavers and 4 Cerastus. Legio Gryphonicus has a particular rule that means your titans can pick a target and get reroll 1's to hit. However, if any other of your titan's shoot at their target then they lose the bonus. So, in the short term it makes their individual shooting more effective but it means you can't really focus fire from all of your Titan's to bring an engine down, otherwise those bonuses evaporate. On top of that my Priceps Seniores had the trait to make all its hits on its target rerollable.

I tried to get up as far as possible.

Liam pushed up too but I was now in range of his Questoris with my Reaver's Thermal Cannon. I was able to hit the unit and just totally deleted every Knight within the household. It felt like overkill before I fired and the outcome definitely felt like overkill. Liam was definitely unhappy.

In return his squadron of Warhounds and Cerastus started to push even further up the board, getting behind my Reaver and close to my missile silo that was missing every turn.

My Cerastus moved up to get his Reaver.

The Lancers continued to chase down the Reaver, while my own Reaver moved toward the middle of the board to then turn and get a firing solution on his Warhounds and Lancers now firmly in my backfield.

Liam's force now castled up in my back corner. But it looks like I was able to take one of the Warhounds down. However, they work really well as a squadron and I bet if you can learn how to get their movement down so they move together that this is the optimal way to play them.

As they were now cornered the Reaver fell and the Lancers too by the looks of it. Whether they got consumed in the Reaver's fireball or fell to additional fire I'm unsure.

More of my Reavers began to converge and Liam and Otty felt it was done and dusted.

These are our faces afterwards, Liam and Otty completing faking any happiness as they were thoroughly convinced my Legio rules were too overpowered. It didn't help that Liam had been given a list that was not great [although it represented what Ben has in his Ork force so they wanted to see how that would fair - not good by the looks of it]. Also, he wasn't taking any of his own traitor Legio rules for Legio Krytos. I've since seen what they are and I'm not sure it would have been a benefit. Although, it does confirm they have a penchant for Warlords, just as my Legio has one for Reavers, which coincidentally reflects our passions in the game.

Not a battle report - Adeptus Titanicus 1

Afternoon #Warhammer Community I've been #PlayingWarhammer. This was my first game of 'new' Adeptus Titanicus. It was actually in December so I've almost no recollection of what was going on but I wanted to acknowledge it took place so I'm sharing the pics at least. All I can remember is my small force had to rescue the 'titan crew' that is the white 'dot' that's just a little to right of the middle of the board in the picture below. Liam and Otty's force was squatting on a Void Shield Generator so I had a long way to go to get my boys back while weathering the incoming fire from that Warlord.

Lets just say there was a lot of rules consultation to get to grips with how to play the game.

We struggled with the command phase, giving orders. I was just a bit luckier in that I failed one command later than Liam and Otty.

This meant my Lancer's were well in his face, but even so the next turn Charge was going to be problematic as you don't appear to be able to turn. I think the Knights can move in any direction, which is better than the titans, but it doesn't appear they can turn mid movement. Getting round that rock face was going to be an issue.

My titans weren't making much progress either, aside from getting in each other's way. I think I'd already started to take damage.

So we didn't get much further than this really. It looked like I was outgunned and we called it an evening. Subsequently, Ben went back during the week and finished the game off with Otty and somehow managed to steal a win. I think one of the Reavers managed to get to the Titan Crew and head back but there's no guarantee they got the victory conditions correct.

There was so much of this that we were playing wrong and that's not helped by rulebook being very disjointed. It has both basic and advanced rules, but often in the advanced rules it refers back to the basic rules pages. There's also a lot of 'page furniture' that makes the rule book look pretty, but it does squeeze the content. Throw in the choice to use tiny, tiny text and it's really hard to see, let alone understand the complex rules system. That said, we are not dismayed by it and although it wasn't easy to pick up, like Turnip28 for instance, it was interesting and felt tactically challenging rather than based on pure luck or layer-upon-layer of bonuses or stratagems.

Adeptus Titanicus - Cerastus Knight Lancers - WHITE PICS ⚪

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my remaining #AdeptusTitanicus Cerastus Knight Lancers and here are the pics on a white background for the connoisseur.

The heraldry on knights can be a lot of fun to do, but also kill the momentum of a project.

I was quite lucky here in that not being the case.

I also had the advantage of being able to add some Legio Gryphonicus decals too, just to reinforce their commitment to the Titan order.

I randomly decided to add yellow lightning bolts on the shin pad as kill markings. I was only going to do 3, but it looked a little WW2 war symbol, so I added more to make it a pattern.

I love doing the chevrons but the shin on es should be going up at the middle rather than down. I was copying a previous one that went down and now I see it's the opposite of what's on the carapace. Nevermind.

The decals add such a history to the model, which technically it doesn't have!

The orange plasma glow worked great in some places, but the eyes are a bit ropey on both of them, but I can live with it.

Some top down views so you can see how the carapace and shoulder pads were painted.

And the set of 4. As much as I hanker for the 40k Cerastus I think it's just Lancers I'm after for Adeptus Titanicus.

That said, I do want some Questoris so I can copy my 40k knights in epic scale. Until then I hope you enjoyed all these little giant robots.

Adeptus Titanicus - Cerastus Knight Lancers - TO DONE! 🔴

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my remaining #AdeptusTitanicus Cerastus Knight Lancers. I genuinely thought I'd be over painting little giant robots after the titans were done, but it seems I'm not.

These two fellas were a lot fun to finish off and it meant I didn't have to focus on the Lion or my Tyranids.

I'll be honest my enthusiasm and momentum is somewhat lacking at the moment.

There's just one month left in the season and I don't feel I have the energy to get much done.

We'll see though, but I've blogging to catch up with and a new hobby season to conjure up.

But I did enjoy fitting these in and they were much quicker/easier to do than I had imagined.

One worry is that GW have just announced a twin box for the Cerastus Acheron and Castigator!

I am sorely tempted. I always wanted the Acheron and when the Lancer came out I always hoped one would come with some kind of gatling weapon.

That said I'd been planning on the Acheron and getting 3rd party bits to make the Castigator.

3D printed sword and using the baneblades Vulcan Mega Bolter to make the gun. It'd be cheaper and I can't ever imagine running 3 Cerastus.

Certainly not if they don't make the Imperial Knights Codex, which is still unconfirmed.

Not to mention there have been rumours of a different knight coming in plastic, who knows what I might want instead.

But for now, these guys are done. I may actually talk about painting them in the white background pics 😂

Another Bloody Great Big Bloody Stamps of Bloody Approval!
